PADI & SSI
Lora was trained in Houston, Texas, and received her Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications in 2000 and 2001 respectively. After a six-year diving hiatus, Lora decided to reactivate her interest in diving not long after moving to Maryland. She joined UAS in 2009 and has served on various committees, including serving as Club President, Vice President, Secretary, and the 52nd and 55th Club Anniversary Chair.
Since joining the club, Lora has focused on accruing dives and attaining advanced certifications. She has managed to log over 150 dives in beautiful and exciting locales as Papua New Guinea, Saba, St. Eustatius, Cozumel and La Paz, Mexico, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, The Flower Gardens (Gulf of Mexico), and Key Largo, FL. While she has loved every dive spot visited, it is her goal to visit all of the world’s best warm water dive sites, especially in the South Pacific. In addition to gaining more diving experience, Lora has continued her quest for additional training throughout the years.
She received her Rescue Diver certification in 2012, Divemaster certification in 2013, and Master Scuba Diver certification in 2015. She continues to increase her knowledge by attaining many specialty certifications including Project AWARE Specialist, Diving with a Purpose (DWP), Coral Restoration, and Aquarium Diving. Needless to say, Lora is devoted to the sport of recreational diving and UAS.
