I was born and raised in Washington DC. I Have always loved the water but did not have an opportunity to pursue my dream of scuba diving until a little over a year ago. I became a certified scuba diver through the Under-Water Adventure Seekers with the class of 2019. I am currently certified as an Advance Open Water, Nitrox and Aquarium diver. I have only been diving about a year but have logged approximately 63 dives. My goal was to achieve 100 dives my first year and then came COVID 19. I would like to continue my training and achieve a certification as a PADI Master Scuba Diver.
I am a member of UAS and the National Association of Black Scuba Divers. I have been diving in Cancun, Cozumel (Cenotes and Black Hole), Belize and Bonaire. My dream is to continue diving and to dive as many places around the world as possible. I prefer warm water diving.
I have been in the field of education and training for over twenty years. I have worked in District government, private industry, nonprofit organization and several educational institutions. I hold a master’s degree in Human Resource Management and Development. I currently work through a tech company (2U) in admissions for the University of Southern California. I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home with liberal vacation benefits.
I decided to pursue a position with the Executive Committee with UAS in order to give back to the organization that gave me the opportunity to learn to dive. I would like to give back to the club and the sport of diving. My goals are to help provide safe diving experiences at destinations locally and internationally. It is my deepest desire to provide ideas and support the ideas of others toward membership retention and increase in new membership. My priority is safety. I am very excited to work with the executive committee to help forge ahead and support the club.
